August 11, 2014 -- OCTG, LLP has received financing approval for and is completing final engineering and design details for a new quench and temper heat treat facility at its Houston location. The Q & T facility will process 4 1/2" through 9 5/8' OD heavy-wall material and will utilize combination barrel-walking beam gas austenitizing/gas tempering technology, and will include both external and internal quench systems. The facility will upgrade "green" tubulars through Q-125 grades, in batch runs for selected customers. Service operations are scheduled to commence September 2015.
July 10, 2014 -- Houston, TX: OCTG, L.L.P. has recently installed a mill-speed Plain-end hydrostatic pipe testing unit at its Sheldon Road location. The tester accommodates plain-end oilfield casing sizes of 4 ½” thru 7 5/8”, and is capable of API alternate pressures. OCTG Pres. David Siverling states that the PE Tester will compliment their existing line of tube mill finishing services. The tester has already been qualified for use by several international tube mills. The tester was engineered and assembled by B & M Tool, Midland, TX.
